hello there...
i'm prolly not going to be very good at keeping up with this... but here goes:
1. arrived in evanston on tuesday, sept 12th
2. into our new apt... really nice... pictures can be found on: www.shortiey.myphotoalbum.com
3. dean's elementary school buddy, andy, from 1st grade lives 3 doors down the hallway from us so its like we're living in a super nice dorm... and nice to have a familiar face around
4. wednesday: i'm working on 2ndary medical school applications... there are so many freakin essays. i wish they were all the same questions. then at night, andy (who attends kellog school of business), takes us out to a party with him. partying in evanston... which is a small college town about 20min north of chicago along lake michigan... is like a dinky dinky version of the LA party scene. it consists of basically 2 bars... first you start off at "Nevin's" then you go to "The Keg" where if people have drank enough beers, you might get to see some PG-13 rated pole-dancing. The b-school peeps are quite nice though and foresee myself as one of the pole-dancers in the near future. =)
5. thursday (today): woke up really early for some reason... slept really well i think from being sick with the darn cold still and partying/moving/packing/flying AND the because of the FRESH AIR! the air just tastes GOOD. anywho... worked on 2ndaries all day in our bare apt. then went across the street to "The Chicken Shack". Southern style fried chicken, bread (which is like plain toasted white bread), fries and cole slaw (which they skimp on the portions). DAYAM GOOD chicken. i'm gonna get nice and fat here in evanston... pile on that lard so i can have my insulation for the winter. then went to the local grocery market called "Jewel Osco" - exactly like Ralphs. they also have the 10 for $10 items with your club card. we didnt know it but we got into the 15 item or less line. now if we were in LA... the cashier lady woulda let us have an ear full... but here, she was totally nice. she didnt even flinch at our 50+ items.
then... we go to target. i wanted to buy the pretty orange/pink flower isaac mizerahi (sp?) duvet set for my new full size bed (my first full sized bed! whoa nelly). okay so its labeled as $89.99 but then there's a sales tag on it for $24.99!! so i'm like.. dang! i'm gettin it right? so i go to the front... they scan it and it's $89.99. what?! so she checks and its $24.99 for a king size but not the full. so she checks with the manager... the manager says i cant have it for that sales price b/c it was mis-labeled. they kinda insinuate that someone (ahem, me) stuck the sales tag on there. punks! either way... if its a mistake, they should still honor that price. i felt wronged. wutevs.. i'm going to ikea on saturday.
6. tomorrow... we get our stuffs from LA in a big ol' semi truck which will be wheeled into our courtyard (see pictures on website). cant wait for my 800lbs worth of clothes.
7. so i've signed up for the chicago marathon... committed to raising a certain amount of $$ for it too. but havent had time to train for it at all. and i dont feel like training for it either. so i've decided i wont train for it. i'll just wing it. i certainly wont train for it in china... getting lost amoungst the people's republic of china is not my idea of a vacation. =P
alrighty... that's prolly the longest and last post i'll have for a lil while b/c i'm lazy. so u better read it word for word. hahaha. nite!
