  • okay... how do i change what my page looks like again? how come everything looks so different here? what's going on?! ahhhhhhhhhh!!!
  • hello xanga world! no no... i dont think i'm back... just a sporadic entry.

i KNEW if i waited long enuf... xanga would just offer FREE photo uploading with web blogging! and MAN... i'm cheap.

i know i'm also cheap... b/c i saw a huge kashi cookie jar and stole 12 cookies from their cookie jar this weekend while walking along 3rd street. hopefully its not some social experiment and there's a camera on the jar showing the greediness of different ethnic backgrounds. =P i used to be sooo embarrassed of my mom stuffing her big oversized purse with buffet food items to take home for later... and now? well... let's just say the apple doesnt fall too far from the tree. =P

just got the proofs back from our wedding photographers of our "magazine-style" album. here's just one of the 12 pages. had some changes i wanted so once i get all of it back again.. will post the rest somewhere. =)

saw "wicked" tonight. and can you BELIEVE i forgot my camera?!?! so i took photos of the theater with my phone and have no idea how to transfer them onto my computer now. i'm challenged... in many, many ways. please dont make fun of me... =/

  • 1. took the "el" train to my interview ("elevator" train rather than subway since it travels above the ground most of the time). a 30min trip to chicago from evanston by car took 55min but it was fun and only $2 vs. a $30 taxi ride.

    2. my "interview" went well. will be starting my new job as a post-doctoral fellow on nov. 1st.

    3. reached my fundraising minimum for the chicago marathon with the help of great friends AND acquaintances.

    4. ikea delivered our purchases from saturday yesterday. so i have my first full sized bed and new comforter/pillow set. yeepee! although, i didnt sleep too well on it last nite... maybe i should have invested in a temperapedic bed and pillow...

    5. still working on those 2ndary apps... blah.

    6. still have the stupid cough... its going on 3 weeks of being sick. i never get colds. colds i think are worse than flu's b/c of the length of their unfortunate and miserable visit with our bodies. everyone here has the sniffles though... i think it might have to do with the fact that overnight the temperature dropped by 30 degrees from 80 to 50. yeah... that might be it.

    7. went into downtown evanston... which is like a 5min walk from our apt... to try out a new asian restaurant. it turns out its owned by koreans and they sell everything in this store... like our neighbors would say, "its a hodge podge of foods". they sell kimichi fried rice, dok boki, ice cream, and smoothies. while having dinner there with dean, andy, and craig (andy's roomie)... i see vinny through the window. so he joined us for dinner as well. he was walking around in short sleeves and flip flops while i was wearing sweats, 3 layers on top and a scarf around my neck.

    8. finally, how do you spell "hodge podge"... is it hyphenated? is there something that's a "hodge" but not a "podge"?

  • hello there...

i'm prolly not going to be very good at keeping up with this... but here goes:

    1. arrived in evanston on tuesday, sept 12th

    2. into our new apt... really nice... pictures can be found on: www.shortiey.myphotoalbum.com

    3. dean's elementary school buddy, andy, from 1st grade lives 3 doors down the hallway from us so its like we're living in a super nice dorm... and nice to have a familiar face around

    4. wednesday: i'm working on 2ndary medical school applications... there are so many freakin essays. i wish they were all the same questions. then at night, andy (who attends kellog school of business), takes us out to a party with him. partying in evanston... which is a small college town about 20min north of chicago along lake michigan... is like a dinky dinky version of the LA party scene. it consists of basically 2 bars... first you start off at "Nevin's" then you go to "The Keg" where if people have drank enough beers, you might get to see some PG-13 rated pole-dancing. The b-school peeps are quite nice though and foresee myself as one of the pole-dancers in the near future. =)

    5. thursday (today): woke up really early for some reason... slept really well i think from being sick with the darn cold still and partying/moving/packing/flying AND the because of the FRESH AIR! the air just tastes GOOD. anywho... worked on 2ndaries all day in our bare apt. then went across the street to "The Chicken Shack". Southern style fried chicken, bread (which is like plain toasted white bread), fries and cole slaw (which they skimp on the portions). DAYAM GOOD chicken. i'm gonna get nice and fat here in evanston... pile on that lard so i can have my insulation for the winter. then went to the local grocery market called "Jewel Osco" - exactly like Ralphs. they also have the 10 for $10 items with your club card. we didnt know it but we got into the 15 item or less line. now if we were in LA... the cashier lady woulda let us have an ear full... but here, she was totally nice. she didnt even flinch at our 50+ items.

then... we go to target. i wanted to buy the pretty orange/pink flower isaac mizerahi (sp?) duvet set for my new full size bed (my first full sized bed! whoa nelly). okay so its labeled as $89.99 but then there's a sales tag on it for $24.99!! so i'm like.. dang! i'm gettin it right? so i go to the front... they scan it and it's $89.99. what?! so she checks and its $24.99 for a king size but not the full. so she checks with the manager... the manager says i cant have it for that sales price b/c it was mis-labeled. they kinda insinuate that someone (ahem, me) stuck the sales tag on there. punks! either way... if its a mistake, they should still honor that price. i felt wronged. wutevs.. i'm going to ikea on saturday.

    6. tomorrow... we get our stuffs from LA in a big ol' semi truck which will be wheeled into our courtyard (see pictures on website). cant wait for my 800lbs worth of clothes.

    7. so i've signed up for the chicago marathon... committed to raising a certain amount of $$ for it too. but havent had time to train for it at all. and i dont feel like training for it either. so i've decided i wont train for it. i'll just wing it. i certainly wont train for it in china... getting lost amoungst the people's republic of china is not my idea of a vacation. =P

alrighty... that's prolly the longest and last post i'll have for a lil while b/c i'm lazy. so u better read it word for word. hahaha. nite!
